Material Performance & Conscious 'Co' Design

Extract from:
Performance-Oriented Architecture: Rethinking Architectural Design and the Built Environment

Author: Michael Hensel

These investigations look at the significance of material and structure in relation to human environments. It considers the way people as well as nature will interact with structures, and thus considers human de-centred, human centred and well as new media ecologies in ways that can inform my practical development on the conscious application of relevant materials and investigations. These Scandinavian examples present well the ways their culture embeds nature within their architecture, responsive to the mythological context of their histories.
